LEWISTON — Centre Stage Ensemble, Lewiston High School drama club, will offer a public performance of “The Clean House” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Lewiston Middle School Auditorium.

Centre Stage Ensemble will present the abridged one-act version in the Maine Principal’s Association Regional One-Act Drama Festival competition at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Yarmouth High School. In preparation for the competition, the ensemble is inviting the community to the public performance.

“The Clean House,” abridged by Mackenzie Richard and Aaron Louque, directed by Richard and advised by Louque, was written by Sarah Ruhl and premiered in 2004 at Yale Repertory Theatre. It was produced Off-Broadway in 2006 and has since been produced in many theaters.

The play is a whimsical romantic comedy centered on Matilde, a Brazilian cleaning woman who would rather be a comedian. The play was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

In lieu of a ticket price, audience members may donate to Centre Stage Ensemble.
