Two people are accused of drunken driving and endangering the welfare of children in separate incidents this past weekend.

On Sunday, Michael Y. Couillard, 41, of Wilton was arrested on three Class D charges of operating under the influence of alcohol-one prior, refusing to submit to arrest or detention with bodily injury, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Wilton officer Brian Lynch stopped Couillard’s vehicle on Munson Road at about 2 a.m. Sunday in Wilton on a motor vehicle complaint, Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Monday.

There were two children under age 12 in the vehicle.

Couillard physically refused to submit to arrest, she said.

Jay officer Michael Booker assisted Lynch with the arrest. The children were turned over to an adult family member.

On Saturday in Jay, a truck driven by Amanda D. Oliver, 33, of Livermore went off Morse Hill Road into a ditch, Jay Police Chief Richard Caton IV said Monday.

Officer Dylan Rider arrested Oliver on Class D charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and endangering the welfare of a child, he said.

A 4-year-old child was in the back seat and was not secured in a child safety seat, he said. Tasha Sampson, 32, of Livermore Falls was also in the truck, he said.

No one was injured in either case.

A conviction on a Class D charge is punishable by a maximum 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Couillard posted $300 cash bail to be released from the Franklin County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear at a Farmington court on May 29.
