GREENE — A single-family home was destroyed early Sunday when a car caught fire in the garage beneath the home.
The fire was reported about 5 a.m. at the house on Island View Drive.
The Sabattus Fire Department reported that the house’s occupants were alerted by a smoke detector and were able to exit the building safely and without injury.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
