SOUTH PARIS — Mrs. Virginia “Ginny” Cole, 97, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris. She resided on Clark Street in Bethel for many years.

Born in Skowhegan on May 2, 1920, at her parents’ home of many years on Beech Street. She was a daughter of B. Frank and Leona B. (Woodman) Curtis. Ginny was a graduate of Skowhegan High School in the Class of 1938 and Farmington Teacher College, Class of 1942.

For a few years, she taught home economics at Cony High School in Augusta. She was a member of the West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel serving on various committees. She also was an active member of the Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Her interest varied: tennis, golf, knitting, sewing, crafts, gardening, family organizer and a strong penchant for social activities. She and her husband loved to travel both in this country and abroad.

Ginny was married in Skowhegan on July 18, 1942, to Howard Wheeler Cole, who died in Norway on Oct. 22, 2005.

Survivors include her son, Curtis, and his wife, Terry, of Norway; a daughter, Nancy Farmer, of Norway; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Arlene Turner, and husband, Mylon, of Skowhegan; and, earlier in 1959, her brother-in-law, John W. Diller Sr.
