LEWISTON — The Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday was investigating the death of a 28-year-old Birch Street man who collapsed and died in the street near his home.
Police said the death of Abdulahi Mohamed Abdi, of 74 Birch St., appeared to be the result of a medical issue, although the specifics were not yet known.
Witnesses said Abdi collapsed in the middle of Birch Street, near the corner of Knox Street, on Wednesday morning. He died at the scene.
At the Medical Examiner’s Office, Administrator Mark Belserene said the autopsy on Abdi had been completed by Wednesday afternoon. The cause of death was pending further study, he said. Additional toxicology testing could take up to two weeks.
