FARMINGTON — An Easter sunrise service, sponsored by the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry (FAEM), will be held at about 6:22 a.m. Sunday, April 1, as the sun appears over Voter Hill.

Those attending should go a little more than a mile up the hill and meet at the intersection a short way after passing the farm buildings on the right.

The half-hour service will be held regardless of the weather. Those attending should dress warmly.

Following the service, all are invited for coffee served at the home of Fred and Denise Brittain.

NEW PORTLAND — The Western Mountains Baptist Church, Route 27, will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 1. Meet outside the church at the cross.

A free hot breakfast will be served inside the church after the service. As always, a worship service will be held at 10 a.m.

A Good Friday service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 30.

PHILLIPS — The Easter season begins on Palm Sunday, March 25, with a 10:45 a.m. service at the Phillips Community Church, corner of Main and Pleasant streets. Palm fronds will be distributed.

Maundy Thursday service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Phillips Community House, 31 Main St. A light meal, symbolic of the Last Supper, will be served followed by the service.

The Easter sunrise service will be observed with the Weld Church on Sunday, April 1. Easter service at the Phillips Community Church will be at 10:45 a.m.

RANGELEY — The Church of the Good Shepherd, Rangeley, will hold  special services for Easter.

Maundy Thursday, March 29, 5:30 p.m., Seder Supper will be followed by stripping the altar.

Good Friday, March 30, noon, Good Friday liturgy will be followed by silent prayer.

Easter Sunday, April 1, 6:30 a.m., vigil and sunrise service; 8 a.m., Easter breakfast; 9:30 a.m., Celebration of the Resurrection.

A special meeting of the Bereavement Support Group will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 6, for those who find holiday seasons difficult because of the loss of loved ones.

SUMNER — Holy Week services at the Congregational Church of East Sumner will begin on March 25, Palm Sunday. The 9 a.m. service will include a song by the choir and palm branches for all attendees.

There will be 7 p.m. services on March 29, Maundy Thursday, and March 30, Good Friday.

Easter Sunday will begin with a 7 a.m. service, followed by breakfast and a 9 a.m. service. All services will be led by the Rev. Howard MacMullen.

WAYNE — Easter observances are announced at the Wayne Community Church, UM, 22 Old Winthrop Road. All are welcome.

March 25: Palm Sunday service, 9:30 a.m. Holy Week begins with a celebration. The choir will sing and palms will be distributed. The congregation will reflect on the question, “Who do you say that I am?”

March 29: Maundy Thursday service, 7 p.m. Through scripture, music, hand-washing and the Sacrament of Holy Communion, the congregation will remember the Last Supper and celebrate its continued impact on lives today.

March 30: Good Friday, the sanctuary is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. All are welcome for prayer or meditation.

April 1: Easter Sunday sunrise service, 7 a.m., at the Cooks’ lakeside property, 30 Pond Road. An informal gathering overlooking Pocasset Lake with local musicians and a short message celebrating the miracle of Easter.

7:30 a.m., Community Breakfast in Fellowship Hall at the church. A meal hosted by the men of the church.

9:30 a.m., Easter service at the church will include the choir singing Easter selections, Easter flowers adorning the sanctuary and an activity for the children.
