I write in response and comment to Thomas Shields letter of March 15, “Democrats making things difficult.”

Shields spends the first two paragraphs pontificating over the Democrats’ set of values and “…  the blocking of nearly every bill offered and nearly every nomination made by President Trump.” I would again ask Shields, why was he silent when the Republicans did that to President Obama?

Shields further states, “He (Trump) uses everyday language which can be understood by all, but is offensive to some.” If calling people names, spreading lies and using vulgar language is “everyday language,” then Shields has lost his moral compass.

I don’t understand why President Trump and Shields continue to drive a wedge between the Republicans, Democrats and “we the people.” Is that their best effort to unite this country?

Again I will state for Shields, the Republicans control the U.S. Congress and the presidency — who are the Republicans really fighting?

Shields has his one-party system in place; what purpose does it serve “we the people” for him to continue to divide this nation that is already great?
