STRONG — A local man is accused of possessing crack cocaine when police stopped the automobile he was driving Saturday for a vehicle defect on South Main Street, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin County Deputy Derrick Doucette arrested Michael Gary Deming, 20, of Strong on a felony charge of unlawful possession of schedule W drugs.

Doucette, assisted by Maine State Police Trooper Randy Hall at the scene, searched the vehicle and seized crack cocaine with a street value of $2,000 and $274 cash, according to officials.

Deming was taken to Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington and released the same day on $1,000 cash bail.
