WILTON — The Wilton Lions Club has chosen Ken Wiley as “Lion of the Year” for his outstanding involvement in community and charitable events.
Wiley is involved in the Lions Club eyeglass collection and has installed a drop-off box at the club building. The Wilton Lions Community Building is located on Main Street. He is also coordinator of the Lions Club involvement with the Special Olympics.
?He also arranged and coordinated a bottle and can recovery for the Wilton ?Food Pantry and organizes pick-up for the Food Pantry. The Wilton club also holds a huge yard sale in the spring and Wiley helps with pick-up of merchandise donated for the sale. He is in charge of rentals of the clubhouse and its tent. On top of that, he promotes the annual pancake breakfast and its ticket sales.
The Wilton Lions Club is best known for fighting blindness, but also volunteer for many community projects, including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled. Their meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.
