I am disappointed in Congressman Bruce Poliquin’s decision to vote for a GOP tax plan that does not reflect the best interests of his constituents. Rather than attending to the needs of Mainers, Poliquin has chosen to support a bill that will give tax breaks to the wealthy while slashing Medicare and Medicaid programs that thousands of Maine residents rely on.

As a college student with parents approaching retirement age, I rely heavily on the security provided by the Affordable Care Act and Medicare. Repealing aspects of the ACA could leave me without health care in a financially vulnerable period in my life, while cuts to Medicare will destabilize my parents’ retirement plans and expose them to elevated health risks.

Congressman Poliquin has put me and my family at risk in order to provide tax breaks to wealthy Americans such as himself.
