POLAND — Good news: If you attend Regional School Unit 16 schools, you’ll get an extra day of summer vacation.
Bad news: There will be no more early-release Wednesdays for the rest of the school year.
The school board this week agreed to end the school year for Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls students on Thursday, June 21, rather than Friday, June 22, as previously planned.
However, all early-release Wednesdays have been canceled for the rest of the school year, which means school will end at the regular time rather than an hour early as originally scheduled. That extra hour each week will help the school system make up snow days.
RSU 16 has used nine snow days this school year.
