POTSDAM, New York — Clarkson University has announced recipients of endowed, sponsored and Share Clarkson scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Keenan Joseph Lynch of Lewiston, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering, received the Gordon C. “Stub” Baker ’27 Endowed Scholarship.

Ben Hidden Buck of Peru, a sophomore majoring in civil engineering, received the Harold A. and Dorothy Putnam Endowed Scholarship and the William P. Harrison Endowed Scholarship.

Alex J. Michaud of Sabattus, a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering, received the Sigma Chi Iota Zeta Sponsored Scholarship.

ELMIRA, New York — Jillian Leighton of New Gloucester was one of 13 students inducted into the Elmira College chapter of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology during a recent induction ceremony.

NEW LONDON, New Hampshire — Colby-Sawyer College student Brady Dion of Sabattus, a member of the Class of 2018, was selected to participate in the 2018 “Med Student for a Day” program sponsored by Dartmouth College’s Geisel School of Medicine held at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) on April 2. Dion is studying exercise science.

Students attended lectures led by medical school faculty, learn about New Hampshire health career opportunities, tour the facility with current medical students and meet with admissions staff.

With plans to apply to medical school in the coming year, Dion enjoyed meeting current students and getting a glimpse of their worlds.

“I learned what life as a medical student truly is like, and how to conduct myself once I become a medical student,” he said. “Additionally, (the program) gave me an opportunity to practice my networking skills — to step out of my comfort zone, ask questions and make new connections.”

While completing his medical school applications, Dion will work at Central Maine Medical Center as an exercise physiologist in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

ELMIRA, New York — Kallah Turner of Turner was one of eight students inducted into the Elmira College cast of the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society during a recent induction ceremony.

WORCESTER, Massachusetts — Calvin Downey of Buckfield, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research through the WPI project center in Ecuador.

The project was titled Promoting Laboratory Quality Management Programs in Cuenca. In their project summary, the students wrote, “The goal of this project was to promote quality management in the laboratory setting by supporting clinical laboratories in Cuenca.”

CANTON, New York — Kayleen Fellows of Harrison has been selected for membership in the St. Lawrence University chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honorary society.

Fellows is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in environmental studies-mathematics and statistics. Fellows attended Oxford Hills High School.

WATERVILLE — Danielle C. Palmer of Topsham, a member of Colby College’s Class of 2018, was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa this spring. 

Palmer, who is majoring in history, is one of 49 students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Colby this year. A graduate of Mt. Ararat High School, she is the daughter of Carmen Palmer of Topsham, Maine, and Kelly Palmer of Topsham, Maine.
