WATERVILLE — Hunter Labossiere lofted a sac fly into the outfield to plate Wyatt Williamson in the top of the fourth inning and relief pitcher Janek Luksza struck out the final two batters of the game with the bases loaded as Oxford Hills clung to a 4-3 win over Messalonskee in the teams’ season-opener at Colby College on Tuesday.
Colton Carson earned the win on the mound for the Vikings (1-0), with Luksza picking up the save. Ashton Kennison keyed a three-run third for Oxford Hills with a two-run single.
Messaloskee scattered seven hits, including a two-run triple by Percy Carey in the bottom of the first inning. Carey and Dylan Cunningham led the way with two hits each for the Eagles (0-1).
