FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington will present its first Festival of New Plays, at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 19, and Friday, April 20, in UMF Alumni Theater. These performances are free and open to the public.

Created through a collaborative workshop process, the festival provides creative writing and theater students with an opportunity to write, direct and perform their original works for an audience. These original works are written, produced, directed and performed by students in the UMF class on writing for the stage.

The new works include: “You Done?,” written and directed by Kristen Sarasin with a cast of Ian Grima and Astra Pierson; “Waterfalls,” written and directed by Jonas Maines with cast members Brock Bubar and Steffon Gales; “Body,” written and directed by Hailey Craig with cast of Eila McCulloch, Declan Attaway-Murphy and Kristen Sarasin; “Don’t Mess with Bob,” written by Josey Lewis, directed by Noah Willette and Josey Lewis with cast of Avery Isbell and Henry Wanat; “Eggshell Walls,” written and directed by Cynthia Bugenske with cast of Gail Bello, Cynthia Bugenske, Chloe Hoecker, Brittany Paradis, Laney Randolph and Chloe Woodward.

Monologues will also be presented and include: “Drive,” written by Cody Campbell, performed by Matthew Dotson; and “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner,” written and performed by Kristen Sarasin.

Stage manager for the performance is Billie Rose Newby with costume designs by Declan Attaway-Murphy, Ben Hayes, Madison Uliano and Sam Wood. Faculty in theatre is Jayne Decker; technical director, Stan Spilecki; running sound, Nick D’Aleo; running lights, Sarah Smith.

These productions are sponsored by Theatre UMF, the on-campus student theater organization and the UMF Department of the Visual and Performing Arts.
