[UPDATE: Police identify drowning victim]

LISBON — The body of a 61-year-old woman was pulled from a small, private pond off Potter Road on Sunday.

Chief Marc Hagan said Monday that police were called about 6 p.m. about a possible drowning.

When they arrived, they found the property owner had pulled the body out of the water. She is a Lisbon resident, the chief said, but her identity is being withheld while her family is notified.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday. Police said they consider the matter an open investigation while they gather information.

Representatives from the Maine State Police and Maine Warden Service also responded to the scene, Hagan said.
