MEXICO — Selectmen have approved a parade by the Mexico Centennial Committee for Saturday, Aug. 25.

Jennifer Blodgett, town executive secretary and bicentennial committee member, said the parade will start at 11 a.m. at the former Franklin Savings Bank on Main Street and go to the Mexico Green.

After the procession, activity moves to the parking lot behind the Town Office, where bicentennial items will be for sale. Bands will perform at the town gazebo and vendors are expected as well.

Individuals or groups who would like to enter a float or be a vendor are asked to contact Marilla Couch at 207-418-1729, or go to the Mexico Bicentennial Facebook page.

Selectmen have also approved adding Dustin Broughton and Matt Desroches as reserve officers for the Police Department.

Town Manager Jack Gaudet said Public Works employees are on their summer schedule of 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday.

Selectmen voted to go to their summer meeting schedule of 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18.
