LEWISTON — Florette Lizotte Morin, 87, formerly of 631 College Road in Lewiston, died at the d’Youville Pavilion, Wednesday, May 2. She was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Brunswick, to Alphonse and Florence Lizotte.

She married the love of her life, Lionel R. Morin, on Aug. 27, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lewiston. Nel died suddenly, just days shy of their 58th anniversary in 2006. She devoted her life to caring for her family. After raising her four children, Florette decided to get her GED. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She then went to work for St. Mary’s Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 1995.

After her retirement, she and Nel traveled throughout the Quebec Province tracing the family genealogy. They were able to trace the Morin family to France and this is where they spent their 40th wedding anniversary. They loved Paris and the surrounding countryside and had hoped to return someday, but it was not to be. Florette’s arthritis made it too difficult for her to walk great distances.

Florette had many hobbies. She loved to read and do puzzles, the more difficult the better, but she is most remembered for her knitting. Many family and friends have enjoyed wearing sweaters made with love by Florette.

Surviving her are her four children, Roland (Mary) Morin, David Morin, Linda (Dan) Darling and Mark (Sharon) Morin; grandchildren Stephen Darling, Alison Darling, Andrea Morin, Vanessa Morin (JD Lloyd), Katie Couturier and James Morin; great-grandchildren Adelle Darling, Cadence Darling, Samuel Darling, Shadow Darling, Lyric Darling, Camryn Couturier, Avery Couturier and Maeve Lloyd; brother-in-law, Henry Morin Sr.; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; parents; sisters Aline Lizotte and Jacqueline Blanchette; and brother, Aime Lizotte.
