AUBURN — After building a two run advantage in the first three frames, Edward Little hung on to record a 10-8 victory over Mt. Ararat in mid-season softball action Wednesday.

Grace Beaudet and Chantel Ouellette led the Red Eddies (5-4) with three hits each, while Emily Lashua, Jordan Cummings and Taylor Depot all belted out two hits. Kayliegh Temple led the struggling Eagles (1-6) with three hits, while Zoe Stilphen, Ema Hawkes and Belle Benner all pounded out two hits.

Ouellette earned the win for Edward Little, while Morgan Johnson took the loss.

Hall-Dale 16, Dirigo 6

DIXFIELD — Hall-Dale erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning and raced away to post a 16-6 victory over Dirigo in a mid-season MVC softball tilt Wednesday.

Riley Johnson led the Bulldogs with two hits and three RBIs, while Kailey Roberts scattered four hits while earning the win.

Katie Morse led the Cougars (2-6) with a home run, while Alexa Varnum belted a double.

Madison 7, Lisbon 6

MADISON — Annie Worthen and Aishah Malloy each drove in two runs and had two hits in Madison’s 7-6 victory over Lisbon in an MVC softball contest.

Sarah LeBlanc also had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Marah Hall, Emily Edgerly and Kathryn Worthen each had a run batted in.

Madison jumped out to five run bottom of the first inning after the Greyhounds went up 1-0 in the top half of the inning.

Lisbon scored twice in the top half of the third and three times in the sixth. Madison scored single run in the fifth and sixth.

Carly Drischler had three hits and an RBI for Lisbon. Giana Russo had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Ivy Morris had two hits and a RBI while Brittany Norman had a RBI.

Poland 8, Greely 3

POLAND — Kailyn Eskuri had a two-run single in the six-run sixith as Poland cruised to an 8-3 victory over Greely in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Rangers (5-4) took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Anna Smith slapped a single up the middle to plate Sawyer Dusch and Kelsey Currier. The third run scored on the ensuing throwing error by the left fielder.

Kaylin O’Leary reached on a fielder’s choice to score Shelby LaFrinea in the fourth inning for the Knights (5-3), and reached on an error in the sixth before scoring a couple of batters later.

Gray-NG 19, Lake Region 3

GRAY — Pitcher Alie Martell hit a solo shot in the third inning to really get the ball rolling as Gray-New Gloucester steamed past Lake Region 19-3 in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Patriots (6-3) took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Junior catcher Alie Thayer and sophomore second baseman Izzy Brindley had a single and a double each.

Gray-New Gloucester rallied for nine runs in the third for a 16-3 lead en route to a 12-run-rule shortened game.

The catcher, Maddie Rock, produced a pair of doubles for the Lakers (4-5) in the losing effort.

Wiscasset 13, Mountain Valley 2

WISCASSET — Farrah Casey went 4-for-4 at the plate as Wiscasset plugged away for a 13-2 victory over Mountain Valley in softball action Wednesday evening.

The Falcons (0-8) threatened in the third and fourth inning, but couldn’t come up with a hit for a big inning. Taylor Henry led off the third with a single. She later scored when Audra Bean laced a double down the third-base line.

The Wolverines (2-7) struck early with two runs in the bottom of the first. After a Lindsey Gordon leadoff woalk, Kelsey Jones brought her home with a triple to the center field fience. Jones also had a two-run double in the fifth inning for Wiscasset.

Girls’ lacrosse

Morse 14, Edward Little 11

BATH — Sophomore Emily Martin netted five goals to lead Morse to a 14-11 triumph over Edward Little in girls’ lacrosse action Wedneday evening.

The Shipbuilders (3-2) took a 9-5 lead at the midpoint. Junior Maddie McDonnough contributed four goals for Morse.

Sophomore midfielder Lydia Celani was the leading scorer with six goals for the Red Eddies (1-3).

Goalie Erin Anderson made six saves for Edward Little, while goalie Zenaide McCarthy prevented 14 to earn the win in net for Morse.

Oxford Hills 21, Cony 5

PARIS — Maggie Hartnett led a group of 13 players to record goals on Wednesday as Oxford Hills hustled to a 22-5 girls’ lacrosse romp over Cony.

Hartnett finished with four goals for the Vikings (4-1), while Caroline Burns had a hat trick. Derry Bessette, Julia Colby and Cecilia Dieterich chipped in with two goals each, while single tallies from Cassidy Wallow, Gillian Grover, Jade Smedberg, Marissa Paine, Morgan Letourneau, Megan Letourneau, Ella Kellogg and Nadia Wilkie completed the scoring.

Lauren Tomiss led the Rams with two goals, while Lindsay Velazquez, Sophia Worley and Sierra Clark also tallied.

Lewiston 13, Mt. Ararat 1

TOPSHAM — Christine Chasse led a group of nine players to score goals on Wednesday as Lewiston hustled to a 13-1 girls’ lacrosse victory over Mt. Ararat.

Chasse finished with three goals, while Grace Dumond and Rachel Ouellette each scored twice. Single tallies from eric Lachance, Katie Lemieux, Gabby Wilson, Kelsie Lynch, Camree St. Hilaire an Sydney Hill completed the scoring. Jessica Cloutier tallied the lone goal for Mt. Ararat.

CeCe Racine made three saves for the Blue Devils (4-1), while Amber Card turned aside 19 shots for the Eagles (0-6).

Mountain Valley 22, Wiscasset 4

WISCASSET — Garret Garbarini gave up three hits and struck out six in two innings of work and drew ample run support as Mountain Valley raced away to a 22-4 baseball win over Wiscasset on Wednesday.

Dylan Desroches smashed a grand slam home run in the first inning for Mountain Valley (5-2) and finshed with eight RBIs. Harden Dunning belted a solo home run in the fourth as the Falcons never eased off the gas.

The winless Wolverines (0-8) utilized Matt Eckert as the first of three pitchers.

Monmouth 13, Boothbay 0

MONMOUTH — Avery Pomerleau gave up just two hits in three innings and received all kinds of run support as Monmouth blasted past Boothbay, 13-0, in a mid-season baseball tilt on Wednesday.

Tom Neal led the Mustangs (5-2) with two hits and three RBIs, while Corey Armstrong belted two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Carlos Garcia also contributed with two hits in the contest.

Jay Harsh suffered the loss for Bootbay after working the first three frames.

Hall-Dale 11, Dirigo 6

DIXFIELD — Alec Brown had a two run double as Hall-Dale scored seven times in the top of the second en route to a 11-6 victory over Dirigo in a MVC baseball contest.

He had three hits in the contest.

Akira Warren had a pair of doubles and one run batted in. Jacob Brown also had two hits in the victory for the Bulldogs.

Jacob Gaudin had a two run single in the bottom of the third as the Cougars scored three times in the inning. Cam Turner had a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Gray-NG 10, Lake Region 5

NAPLES — Josiah Rottari and Eli Winchester each had two singles and two RBIs to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 10-5 victory over Lake Region in a WMC baseball contest.

The Patriots (4-4) got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and broke open the game in the top of the fifth with a seven run inning..

The Lakers scored once in the bottom of the second on a Hayden Tremblay RBI double. He also had a single in the contest.

Cody Allen and Tristen Chaine also had a single and a double in the contest.

Lake Region (4-4) tied it up at three with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Winthrop 7, Mt. Abram 1

SALEM — Jackson Ladd had a pair of hits as Winthrop dispatched Mt. Abram 7-1 in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Rebels (4-3) rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 7-1 lead down the stretch. Cam Gaghan had a double for Winthrop.

Ryan Biard earned the mound victory for his second win on the season for Winthrop.

Senior second baseman Bryce Werzanski had two hits, including a double, for the Roadrunners (4-4) in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 7, Sacopee Valley 1

AUBURN — Zack Pelletier scored a pair of runs on a single in the third inning as St. Dom’s coasted to a 7-1 victory over Sacopee Valley in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Saints (4-2) took a 4-1 lead in the third inning. Ben Gosselin singled in a pair of runs in the three-run sixth for St. Dom’s.

The lone hit for the Hawks (3-4) came in the top of the third when Mike Murphy roped a triple. He later scored to spoil the shutout opportunity by the Saints.

Greely 12, Poland 2

POLAND — Nick Butler peppered three hits as Greely jettisoned Poland 12-2 in baseball action Wednesday evening.

The game remained scoreless until the Rangers ripped four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Luke Miller contributed two hits, including a double, and plated three runs for Greely.

The Rangers took command with four runs in each of the last two innings.

The Knights tried to stage some late game scoring, but managed only a single run in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

Lisbon 11, Bridgeway 5

MADISON — Lucas Francis had three hits with two runs and two RBIs as Lisbon toppled Bridgeway 11-5 in baseball action Wednesday evening.

The contest was tied 2-2 when the Greyhounds (7-0) came to the plate in the top of the fifth inning. Lisbon proceeded to collect eight runs in the frame.

Jacob Atwood and Evan Holzworth provided two hits each, and Bridgeway (4-4) put two runs on the board in the second and fifth innings before rounding out their five runs with a single tally in the seventh.

Boys’ lacrosse

Fryeburg 23, St. Dom’s 4

AUBURN — Evan Caracciolo had seven goals to lead Fryeburg Academy to a 23-4 victory over St. Dom’s in boys’ lacrosse.

Gunnar Gurnis had four goals while Liam Chisari and Josh Frye had three goals each. Ethan Burk and Caleb Bowles each had a pair of goals as Raiders improve to 7-0.

Alex Roy had two goals for the Saints (0-5) while Hunter Emery and Devdan Young had a goal. Will Fletcher had an assist. Max Comis made 12 saves while Alex Cote made two in relief for the Saints.

Fryeburg outshot St. Dom’s 27-14.
