In advance of National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day, which was observed on Saturday, the Banfield Foundation and Texas A&M University’s Veterinary Emergency Team delivered 500 pet disaster preparedness kits to nonprofits, including 100 to Harris County Animal Shelter in Houston. FEMA urges all pet owners to have a plan for their pets in case of a natural disaster, including how to safely get your pets out of the house, and to create an emergency to-go kit for your animal that includes at least three days’ worth of food, water and medicine.
