LEWISTON — Megan Theriault tossed a no-hitter and contributed to Lewiston’s offensive onslaught in a 17-0 softball win in five innings over Lawrence on Wednesday.

Theriault struck out seven batters and walked only three. She also had three of the Blue Devils’ (11-3) hits and drove in three runs.

One of Theriault’s hits was a double. Jordan Mynahan had a team-high four hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in four runs. Catcher Megan Gosselin added a triple and a single. Skylar Gelinas had a double and two singles, Emily Mousseau and Danielle Cyr recorded two singles apiece and Jordyn Rubin had a double.

Sam Marshall took the loss for the Bulldogs (6-7).

Oxford Hills 12, Erskine 0

PARIS — Lauren W. Merrill and Sydney Crocker combined forces to shut down their opponents Wednesday, as Oxford Hills easily cruised to a 12-0 softball win over Erskine.

Kori Kahkonen, Ashley Childs and Lauren N. Merrill all belted two-run hits in the third inning to help the Vikings put 10 runs on the board in the frame. Madison Day led her squad with three hits, while Madison Starbird and Haley Dillingham each belted out two singles. 

Sacopee Valley 12, Poland 3

SOUTH HIRAM — Brynn Hink scattered six hits in seven innings and drew ample run support as Sacopee Valley rolled to a 12-3 softball victory over Poland on Wednesday.

Lakyn Hink led the powerhouse Sacopee Valley (12-1) with two hits and two RBIs, while Brynn Hink belted out a pair of doubles. Karley O’Leary led the Knights (7-7) with two hits, while Kailyn Eskuri drove in a pair of runs with a single.

Edward Little 20, Cony 6

AUBURN — Grace Beaudet had four hits, including a pair of doubles, as Edward Little stormed to a 20-6 victory over Cony in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

Two Rams (3-11) players had home runs in the game. Carly Lettre had the first one with two outs in the first inning, while Jaiden Bowley launched a grand slam to put Cony up 6-2 in the top of the third inning.

The Red Eddies (9-6) sent nine batters to the plate, scoring four runs and tying the game at 6-6, in the bottom of the third. Edward Little exploded again in the fourth, sending 14 batters to the plate and producing 10 runs.

Jordan Cummings had three hits for Edward Little in the winning effort.

Brewer 17, Winslow 2

WINSLOW — MJ Sellers blasted a pair of home runs, plated three runs and scored three times as Brewer sailed to a 17-2 victory over Winslow in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Witches (14-0) led 13-0 after three innings. Olivia Cattan had three singles, two runs scored and two RBIs for Brewer.

The Raiders (9-5) had three hits and two runs, but committed six errors in the losing effort.

Baseball

Edward Little 13, Cony 4

AUBURN — Ethan Brown struck out nine, gave up six hits and drew ample run support as Edward Little raced away to a 13-4 victory over Cony in baseball action Wednesday.

Maxx Bell smacked a three-run home run in the first inning to give the Red Eddies (13-2) an early advantage. Bell led his squad with four RBIs overall, while Brown helped his own cause with three doubles. Austin Brown also contributed with three hits in the contest. 

Riley Geyer, Kyle Douin and Tyler Dostie led the Rams (4-10) with doubles.

Lewiston 9, Lawrence 1

LEWISTON — Owen Cox continued his strong performances of 2018 on Wednesday, giving up just two hits in seven innings as Lewiston cruised to a 9-1 baseball victory over Lawrence. 

Veteran catcher Brock Belanger and Noah Hill led the Blue Devils (10-4) with two hits and two RBIs each. Belanger and Hill both belted two-run triples. Lewiston erupted for seven runs in the fourth frame to take full control of the contest. 

Josh Dow suffered the loss after working the first four innings. 

Oxford Hills 6, Erskine 1

PARIS — Troy Johnson pitched six innings of one-run ball as Oxford Hills took down Erskine 6-1 in baseball action Wednesday.

The Vikings scored three in the first inning and never looked back. They were led by Wyatt Williamson, who earned two hits in the game, one being a double.

Erskine scored a run in the sixth but was shut down in the seventh by reliever Janek Luskza.

Mt. Abram 4, Telstar 3

BETHEL — Luke Kearing had a triple as Mt. Abram edged Telstar 4-3 in baseball action Wednesday.

The Rebels led 4-1 through four and a half innings before Telstar attempted to rally in the bottom of the frame, but came up a run short.

Tristen Lilly, Tyler Hill and Devin Cole-Mason recorded hits for the Rebels.

Bryce Werzanski had two hits, and freshman Benjamin DeBaise earned the mound win for the Ramblers.

Girls’ lacrosse

Winslow 13, Edward Little 11

AUBURN — Silver Clukey netted five goals and Sarah Stevens added four as Winslow eked out a 13-11 girls’ lacrosse victory over Edward Little on Wednesday.

Alyssa Currie chipped in for the Black Raiders with two goals, while single tallies by Hailey Grenier and Savanah Joler completed the scoring.

Megan Steele led the Red Eddies with four goals and one assist. Lydia Celani registered a hat trick, while Sierra Green scored twice. Madison Travers also scored for Edward Little.

Carrie Selwood made nine saves for Winslow, while Erin Anderson turned aside 11 shots between the posts for Edward Little.

Lewiston 15, Gardiner 7

GARDINER — Grace Dumond netted five goals as Lewiston rolled through Gardiner 15-7 in girls’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (6-4) led 10-4 at the half. Christine Chasse contributed four goals for Lewiston.

Hailey Lovely scored three goals for the Tigers (3-6).

Goalies Willow Lavoie and Julia Hinckley combined for 16 saves for Gardiner, while CeCe Racine stopped 16 to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
