LITCHFIELD — Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival is celebrating its 50th festival at the Litchfield Fairgrounds, 30 Plains Road, June 13 through 17.
Directions are located website BlisteredFingers.com The festival grounds have a big stage that was built in 2010, indoor bathroom facilities, four free hot showers and numerous water hookups throughout the grounds, and electrical hookups. There will be several types of vendors located on the grounds. The festival location has that ‘welcome home’ country atmosphere. “There is lots of field picking through the whole time of the festival,” Sandy Cormier said. She and her husband Greg are festival promoters.
Blistered Fingers has a free, relaxed, informative three-day music program for children for ages 6 through 18. The focus is how to play, sing and perform bluegrass music. Students can bring their own instruments and will commit to the three-day program. The kids all get a free T-shirt and perform a couple of songs as a group on Main stage.
The gates will open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 10. Weekend tickets for each festival will cover four days of great music and camping from Wednesday to Saturday, plus the Sunday morning gospel sing along and jam.
This year’s performers include: Blue Highway, Tennessee, Saturday; Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, Indiana, Thursday; David Parmley and The Cardinal Tradition, Tennessee, Friday; Little Roy And Lizzy Long, Georgia, Saturday; Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass, Pennsylvania, Friday; The Dave Adkins Band, Kentucky, Saturday; Zink and Company, Massachusetts, Saturday; The Misty Mountaineers, Maine, Thursday and Friday; Tony and Heather Mabe, South Carolina, Friday; The Baker Family, Missouri, Wednesday and Thursday; Backwoods Road, Maine, Wednesday and Friday; Bluegrass Gospel Sing and Jam,, Sunday; and the host band, Blistered Fingers, Maine, Saturday.
Tickets available at gate: Early bird camping (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before festival) $10 per day per camper; all four days with free camping — $90. Children 16 and under free with paying adult.
Wednesday only — $15; Thursday only — $20; Friday only — $35, after 5 p.m. — $25; Saturday only — $35, after 5 p.m.— $25; Sunday–free with weekend pass.
Dogs — $10; power — $35 for your entire stay.
