DENMARK  — The Denmark Arts Center will hold the first opening of its new summer art exhibitions — “Elements; Earth, Water, Fire and Air” — at noon, Saturday, June 9, with an artist’s reception from 2 to 4 p.m.

Works by the following artists will be included in the show:  Sheldon Ann, Alison Borrelli, Emily Burr, Janet Gill, Nora Moore Lloyd, Nikki Millonzi, Linda Panzera, Jo Scheder, and Maryann Williams.

“Our theme, drew artists from New England, Maryland, Illinois, California, Wisconsin, and Germany” said Susan Beane, Denmark Arts Center’s interim executive director. “It is exciting to have artists from across the U.S. and international artists interested in showing their art at the Denmark Arts Center.” Nora Moore Lloyd of Chicago, Illinois, used an Ojibwe belief to convey her thoughts on the theme Earth. “It is said that during a lifetime, each of us leaves our tracks in this world — whether following and building upon a route of those who have gone before us or forging a new path on Mother Earth. It is those special places that carry our stories and nurture our being. A palpable feeling of recognition as past, present, future meld into the moment, with earth being the constant.”

The Earth exhibition runs through July 21, with viewing hours throughout the summer every Saturday from noon to 4:30 p.m. The “Water “exhibition starts July 26 and goes through Aug. 25, with the final installation, “Fire and Air” running Sept. 1 through Oct. 6.
