AUBURN — Janice A. Shanahan, 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, at the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn.

Janice was born in Portland on Aug. 12, 1925, the daughter of Danforth and Florida (Rainville) Olsen. She grew up in South Portland, then moved to Connecticut, graduating from Westport High School.

After graduation, she returned to Maine and was employed as a buyer for Owen Moore & Co. in Portland. In 1949, she married Earle Albee of Portland, and together they made their home on Long Lake in Naples and had one daughter, Christine. After Earle passed away, Janice married William Shanahan of Marblehead, Mass.

Upon retirement, they resided at her home in Naples. The past four years, she had been living at the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn.

Janice had a great passion for life. She loved entertaining friends and family at her Naples home, and spent many years swimming, boating and skiing on Long Lake. She enjoyed knitting and made many beautiful sweaters for herself, her daughter and as gifts. She also loved flowers and plants and spent hours working in her gardens.

She is survived by her sister, Lennie Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
