WEST PARIS — The Friends of the West Paris Library will host an opening reception for a display of art by West Paris native Beverly Smith Glines on Sunday, June 10.

The exhibit of oil paintings is titled “A Brush of Serenity” and will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 226 Main St. It will continued until Sept. 1.

Glines graduated from West Paris High School in 1949. She and her husband, Bob, were married for 54 years and raised two daughters, Jaci Presby and Lori McDaniels.

Glines started to paint in the 1970s, taking adult-education art lessons and studied with Duncan Slade and other artists. She has continued to paint until recently. In later years, she had many of her scenes made into Christmas and note cards to stay in touch with family and friends. She also had calendars made with her art to give as gifts.

The public is invited to join Glines and her family for the reception and refreshments.
