Never was a Lewiston and Auburn audience more impressed than that which packed the College Street church Friday evening to hear John Randall Dunn, C. S. of St. Louis on Christian Science. The speaker proved to be one of the most clear and convincing exponents of this teaching ever heard here and his repeated flashes of wit kept the hearers alert throughout the hour and a half that he spoke.

50 years ago, 1968

St. Patrick’s parochial school children expressed their appreciation for a year of “safe crossings” this morning presenting their crossing guide Mrs. Raymond D. Tremblay with a gift. Making the presentation were Paula Michaud and Dominick Zurlo, first graders at the school, but they represented all of the boys and girls of Wallace Parochial School. Mrs. Tremblay has served as the crossing guide at the Blake Street corner for the past eleven years.

25 years ago, 1993

The Central Maine Civic Center came alive Wednesday night. But not because of a hockey game or a Joey Gamache fight. It’s that time of year. Graduation! Lewiston High School’s class of 1993, 291 strong, took that final step before entering the real world or heading off for college. With faculty, friends, family and siblings cheering them on throughout the two-and-a-half hour ceremony, the seniors accepted awards, gave speeches, sang songs, received their diplomas and finally flipped the tassel on their cap, signifying that high school was over.
