RUMFORD — Michael Peter Chase and John Pepin Sr. appeared to be leading Tuesday night in races for the Board of Selectmen, according to Town Clerk Beth Bellegarde.
As of late Tuesday, Bellegarde said she was still unable to provide vote totals.
Based on partial results, it looked that:
• Chase, an incumbent, defeated former Selectman Frank DiConzo for a three-year position.
• Pepin defeated four others in a race to see who will complete the remaining two years of a term vacated by James Theriault, who was appointed sheriff of Oxford County earlier this year. The other challengers were Steve Dyment, Shaunna Lamontagne, William Porter and Jonathan Starr.
Chase said he decided to run again because “a lot of projects were started during my term and are in the works. I want to see them through.”
Pepin said, “I just want to be a part of making Rumford a town that citizens are proud to live in, and where people would want to come to live.”
