RUMFORD — Michael Peter Chase and John Pepin Sr. won seats Tuesday on the Board of Selectmen, according to Town Clerk Beth Bellegarde.

Chase, an incumbent, defeated former Selectman Frank DiConzo 657 to 607 for a three-year position.

Pepin, with 486 votes, defeated four opponents in his bid to fill the remaining two years of the seat vacated by James Theriault, who has been appointed sheriff of Oxford County.

Pepin defeated Steve Dyment, who received, 415 votes; Jonathan Starr, 159 votes; William Porter, 150 votes; and Shaunna Lamontagne, 53 votes.

Chase said he decided to run because there were “a lot of projects started during my term and are in the works and I want to see them through.”

Pepin said, “I just want to be a part of making Rumford a town that citizens are proud to live in and where people would want to come to live.”
