Josh Sparks of Sparks Ark holds a large tortoise. Sparks Ark wildlife will visit the Maine Wildlife Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, on Route 26 in Gray. This local company was officially started in the early 1990s by David Sparks. He and his son, Josh Sparks, had done wildlife rehabilitation for some time, but decided to also start humanely relocating nuisance wildlife. Over the years, they began taking in unwanted and illegal exotic animals as well. In addition to wildlife rehabilitation and nuisance animal work, they do outreach programs with many of their adopted exotic animals, educating people on the legality, pros and cons of owning an exotic pet, as well as how to safely interact with wildlife. This will be an opportunity to meet and photograph a barred owl, hedgehogs, a large tortoise, a boa constrictor and other animals.
