FARMINGTON — A Jay man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Franklin County Superior Court to assaulting a 17-year-old this month in Jay.
Tashiel Johnson, 21, was given credit for time served and fined $300. When he said it would be hard for him to pay the fine because he is trying to get his high school equivalency diploma, Justice Robert Mullen waived the fine but not a $20 surcharge, which is due in March 2019.
A charge of failure to provide correct name and address was dismissed.
Johnson told the court Wednesday he is returning to Massachusetts for a probation violation in a larceny case, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He said he plans to transfer his probation to Maine because he likes it here.
Deputy District Attorney James Andrews said he will notify Massachusetts that Johnson is ready to be picked up because the Maine charges have been dealt with.
Johnson and his brother, Benjamin York, 23, also of Jay were accused June 7 of assaulting two teenagers, a girl and a boy.
York and the mother of both men, Clover York, 51, of Jay also were charged with hindering apprehension and furnishing a place for minors to consume or possess liquor. Their cases have not been resolved.
