I had the honor of serving in the U.S. Army on active duty for four years. When I got out, I was fortunate enough to be healthy, but that meant I, like most other veterans, did not qualify for VA health benefits.

As many as 3,000 such veterans will benefit from MaineCare expansion when the people’s referendum to expand MaineCare is implemented. We need to be concerned that, should the American Health Care Act be passed, 2,700 veterans in Maine could lose their Medicaid coverage.

By voting for the AHCA, Rep. Bruce Poliquin is voting to terminate coverage for thousands of Maine veterans like myself.

As a veteran, I will continue to fight for access to affordable quality health care for all, that the American taxpayers were insightful and generous enough to provide for me during my service.

Doing so means voting Bruce Poliquin out of office in November.
