LEWISTON — Police charged a Lewiston man Tuesday with striking a man on the head with a pipe Monday night on Blake Street.
Omar Omar, 22, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault, according to Lt. David St. Pierre
The victim, 39, who was also punched and kicked, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to St. Pierre.
The incident was not a random attack, St. Pierre said. The victim and Omar apparently knew each other, the lieutenant said.
“In no way do we believe it is related to previous incidents that we’re investigating, such as the Kennedy Park incident, for instance,” St. Pierre said. “We don’t believe the public to be in any danger.”
Omar was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, where he was being held Tuesday night on $10,000 cash bail.
