STRONG — The town celebrates summer each year in the name of Pierpole, a Native American and one of the area’s first settlers.

This year, volunteers have stepped up to offer a day full of family-friendly events Saturday, July 14.

The day starts with an 8 a.m. flea market at Strong Elementary School, open houses at the Fire Department and Strong Historical Society, a book sale and raffle at the library and a lumbermen’s competition at RLH Enterprises on North Main Street.

A road race, a book signing with Randy Probert and a dedication of the new ball field at the American Legion Hall are some of the many events.

As the day winds down, the 6 p.m. parade on Main Street will be followed by live music at the White Elephant Country Store & Restaurant at the other end of town.
