PARIS — Bail was set at $1,000 for a Turner man who crashed his car Thursday afternoon and led police on a chase through the woods in Norway and Oxford.

Cody Parsons, 24, was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of eluding an officer, and misdemeanor charges of driving to endanger, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and operating with a suspended license.

As of Monday afternoon, Parsons was being housed at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Oxford Police Officer Zach Bisson said he came upon Parsons driving a car with an expired inspection sticker at Pottle and Coldwater Brook roads in Oxford. When he tried to pull Parsons over, he sped away, turned onto Eddie Kahkonen Road and crossed into Norway, where he crashed the car and fled into woods.

Parsons was caught two hours later at the Oxford Fairgrounds off Pottle Road.

His next court appearance is at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Oxford County Superior Court.
