Let’s get started with me announcing that we have a new employee to talk about at the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce. Darcia Thorpe joins our team as the new Information Center Manager and I couldn’t be more pleased.

Darcia comes to us through the Fed Cap program which the Chamber has been working with now for nearly two years and she brings skill, enthusiasm and a strong connection to the Oxford Hills. Welcome aboard and I hope you’ll stop by the Information Center at 4 Western Avenue to say hi and welcome Darci to the Chamber.

Gosh we’ve got a Golf Tournament coming up, the 32nd Annual Leon Truman Chamber of Commerce Classic, on Monday, August 6th from the Norway Country Club. First, I’d love to have you play. That’s right, get a four-person team together and come enjoy a great Scramble style tournament that is just plain fun.

Thousands of dollars of potential raffle prizes featuring the chance to win a 2018 Ford EcoSport from Ripley & Fletcher Ford, along with 18 holes of golf which includes a cart and a scrumptious luncheon at the club. Just give Darcia or me a call at 743-2281 and we’ll sign you up, or simply go to the website at www.oxfordhillsmaine.com for all the details.

By the way we couldn’t do this without our member support and boy have they stepped up this year starting with our longtime Signature Sponsor, Norway Savings Bank.

Our Gold Sponsor again in 2018 is the Oxford Casino Hotel and we have a brand new Banquet Sponsor this year in Smokin’ Dave’s Backyard Barbeque. Service Master Returns again in 2018 as our Cart Sponsor and Rooper’s Beverage & Redemption Center is once again our Ball Sponsor.

Next Week I’ll continue to acknowledge and talk about all of our other sponsors and there are lots of them, so stay tuned for that.

Speaking of Smokin’ Dave’s Backyard Barbeque, they are also our Business of the Month for June. If you haven’t been in to their new location on Main Street in Norway, you don’t know what your missing.

The facility looks super and, of course, the food and service are superb. Congratulations to Marcia and Dave. And as part of our Business of the Month campaign we cut a check to a local charity each month on behalf of our winner. This month we’ll be sending out $175 to Rightstart for its upcoming Christmas for Kids & Teens.

Next week I’ll talk about three new members of the Chamber – have you joined up yet? – and the magazine that everyone is talking about.

See you next week.
