ALFRED — Several fellow teachers turned out early Monday at York County Superior Court in Alfred to voice their support for a former Kennebunk High School teacher who will stand trial today on a number of felony and misdemeanor sex charges involving a student.

Jill Lamontagne, 30, allegedly engaged in sex acts with a 17-year-old student. Lamontagne’s trial, on six class C felony counts of gross sexual assault, two class D misdemeanor counts of unlawful sexual contact and six class D misdemeanor counts of sexual abuse of a minor, begins Monday and is expected to last three days.

Lamontagne’s lawyer has maintained that she is falsely accused by a troubled boy she tried to help.

The teachers who showed support for Lamontagne on Monday work for Regional School Unit 21, which includes Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel.

Kennebunk High science teacher Melissa Luetje said the group of 24 teachers and community members came out to support their former colleague, whom she said is falsely accused. Lamontagne resigned her job as a health teacher at the school last fall.
