FREEPORT — Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections will hold a Grand Re-Opening and 35th Anniversary Celebration starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at its factory store, 174 Lower Main St.

The celebration will include a day of chocolate samples, children’s activities, local vendor tastings, complimentary factory tours, Maine made product samples and raffles. Wilbur the Moose will be on hand throughout the day to greet guests. A ceremonial ribbon-cutting will take place at noon. Children’s activities and vendor tastings will wrap up at 2 p.m.

Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections was started by Tom Wilbur and Catherine Carty-Wilbur in 1983 as a chocolate and candy store on Bow Street in downtown Freeport. Their son, Andy, helped to grow the chocolate line over the years and is now leading the business into a new age of updated facilities and innovative new flavors.
