RAYMOND (WGME) — A woman died Monday morning after a head-on crash in Raymond.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has not released the name of the victim, but they say a 30-year-old Raymond woman was heading towards Route 302 on Cape Road when she stuck a truck head-on.

Deputies say the crash happened just after 8:30 a.m.

They say emergency crews tried to give medical aid to the driver, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Cumberland County Patrol Captain Scott Stewart says they are still gathering evidence but it appears the driver crossed the center line and went into the truck’s lane.

“The driver veered off the right side of the road and then over corrected, which brought her across the center line and made contact with the dump truck,” Stewart said.

Stewart says Maine State Police will also be looking at the truck involved, which is protocol because it is a commercial vehicle.
