BETHEL — West Parish Congregational Church will hear about a mission trip to Biloxi, Mississippi.

The 10 people will present information about their work on Friday, Aug. 10, at 32 Church St. The event will start with a 6 p.m. potluck meal followed by the presentation at about 6:45 p.m.

Chesterville Fun Day at town hall

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Fun Day will be Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Chesterville Town Hall on Dutch Gap Road.

The event is free and open to the public. A 5K race will begin at 8 a.m. The parade lineup will be 9 a.m. with the parade starting at 10 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be food, children’s entertainment, music, adult competitions, live animals and cart rides.

Jay Historical Society planning fair

JAY — Members of Jay Historical Society are busy preparing for the big Country Fair the society will hold from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Holmes-Crafts Homestead property on Jay Hill.

There will be many area merchants under the big tent, and the “midway” will feature children’s games, pie-eating contest, craft demonstrations, baked goods, berries and vegetables. Also, free Indian pudding will be served at the Archives Building, and on sale will be raffle tickets, popcorn, hamburgers and hot dogs.

The Jay Firemen’s Museum will be open to view displays. Country music musicians will be on hand to complete the Country Fair atmosphere.

Raffle tickets will be sold for cash certificates and other prizes. The drawing will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Honey bee club plans summer gathering 

WATERFORD — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s annual pot luck summer gathering will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 11, at the home of Christopher and Paula Easton, 763 Mill Hill Road.

Those attending should bring a dish to share and lawn chair. Weather permitting, there will be an open hive, so participants should also bring a bee veil.
