POLAND — This week, the Poland Spring Preservation Society will be hosting the Ken and Jane Brooks at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13.

Ken began performing regularly in 1965. He has performed with Bluegrass Supply Company, Union River Band, Bob & Grace French and the Rainbow Valley Folks, Fox Hollow and is presently a member of the Katahdin Valley Boys, a multi-award-winning bluegrass band.

Jane was first introduced to bluegrass music when she and Ken were married in 1987. Jane has also performed as a part of Fox Hollow. She and Ken have been performing as a duet act since 2004; in 2012 they received the Vocal Duo of the Year Award from the Maine Academy of Country Music.

The society is hosting free concerts every Monday evening throughout the summer. Concerts will take place outside at the gazebo at Poland Spring Resort. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the All Soul’s Chapel. All concerts are free and open to the public.

There is no admission fee and there is ample parking for all. Suggested donation is $5 to support the society. Water is provided and hot dogs will be for sale.
