A chipper lies on its side after a car swerved to avoid it, slid off College Street in Lewiston and slammed into a stop sign near Merrill Road on Thursday, police said. The driver hauling the chipper also swerved, causing the machine to flip. Neither driver was hurt, nor were two passengers in the car. The names of those involved were not immediately available.
