LEWISTON — Norman F. Pruell, 72, of Lewiston passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, at his companion’s home in Lewiston. He was born in Topsham on May 28, 1946, a son of the late John J. and Josephine (Tomko) Pruell.

Norm graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1965. He enjoyed sports very much. He participated in basketball and tennis, but football was his favorite, and he was proud to be on the roster of the first undefeated team at Brunswick High in 1964.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served three tours in Vietnam, one to be remembered was in October of 1968 on the DMV. After the military, he lived in Colorado, where he married the late Dolores (Boswell) Pruell. He returned home to Maine in 1976 with his then wife and three children. Norm worked in various jobs throughout his life, doing sales of Jeeps, carpentry work and finding his niche with construction, building log homes and cabins.

He retired in 2001, where he enjoyed much time with his love for hunting and fishing. He also discovered his fondness of golf. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 9150, where he was an active member for much of his life. He later met Monique Russell, and they shared a special bond of caring, love and understanding.

Norm is survived by his brother, Stan Pruell, and his wife, Karin, of Lisbon; his sister, Charlene Engstrom, and her husband, Dan, of Wisconsin; his daughter, Sabrina Packard, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his companion, Monique Russell, of Lewiston; and many other family and friends who he cared deeply about.
