New Auburn Seniors meeting second Monday

AUBURN — The New Auburn Senior Citizens will meet on the second Monday of the month due to the Labor Day Holiday.

The meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Sacred Heart Church, 8 Sacred Heart Place.

The business meeting and open bingo will be followed by a light lunch.

Last tour of season at Scribner’s Mill

HARRISON — Scribner’s Mill and Homestead will hold its last tour of the season from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3.

Blacksmith Lucas Damen, will be in the shop working at the hearth creating iron works for the reproduction wooden hearth and bellows. A shingle mill demonstration will be at 2 p.m. in the long shed and homestead tours will be held at 3 p.m.

Visitors can tour the saw mill, the long shed, the blacksmith shop, and the 1849 homestead with its barn containing a collection of early sawmill equipment and ice house.

Knitting guild plans celebration

PARIS — Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Maurice’s Restaurant on Main Street.

This is the annual celebration of the organization. Reservations are required by calling 207-539-2518 by Sunday, Sept. 2.

Those attending may bring items for the fair exhibit, the them of which is “Our Charity Work.” For chairitable donation, he guild will collect hats, mittens, scarfs, shawls, lap robes, Special Olympics scarves and purple baby hats for the Don’t Shake Me Program.

Talk to discuss Minot, Hebron apples

MINOT — John Bunker of Palermo will speak on Heritage Apples of Hebron and Minot during a joint meeting of the Minot and Hebron historical societies. 

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at West Minot Grange Hall at the intersection of routes 119 and 124. This will be preceded by a pot luck supper at 6 p.m.

MINOT — The Minot Historical Society will participate in Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Hemon’s Moto Cross.

Democrats to meet in Poland

POLAND — The first meeting of the Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland Democrats will be held  from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Ricker Library.

The meeting will be a dessert social to celebrate the combined municipal committee and have an opportunity to meet one another.

The group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month downstairs at the Ricker Library.
