LISBON — Medical marijuana stores are on hold again in Lisbon.
Town councilors have enacted a six-month moratorium on medical marijuana establishments after an earlier moratorium expired.
The delay gives town planners time to decide where the establishments could be located and what rules they would be required to follow.
“The only reason we’re doing this is because we want to have more time to figure it out,” Councilor Norm Albert said.
Councilors said the ordinance can be lifted before the six months pass. With enough town councilors showing an interest or willingness to consider opting in to medical marijuana facilities, they tentatively planned a workshop with the town’s Planning Board on Sept. 13.
The vote was 6-0 in favor of another moratorium, with Councilor Chris Brunelle abstaining.
