LEWISTON — The Maine Table Tennis League will officially begin its 23rd season of organized table tennis on Monday Sept.17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lewiston Armory. Entrance is at rear of the building near the ball field.

The League invites anyone, regardless of ability to participate in the sport for competition, fun and or exercise. Dues are $40 for adults and $30 for those 12 and under. Dues are payable at the time of registration. The official season runs from September thru May. Practice times are available throughout the year.

League play is on Monday evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Practice times are Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The league boasts the only certified United States of America Table Tennis referee in Maine, who is presently the Vice-President of the League, Rick Shea.

The Maine Table Tennis League holds various tournaments throughout the year, namely a Senior Tournament, the Maine State Table Tennis Championship Tournament, as well as the March Madness Tournament.

The League supplies the balls for play as well as a robot for members to practice on their own. For those needing paddles or supplies, the league has them available at reduced prices.

Players are asked to change sneakers before playing, which means they should carry an extra pair of footwea. This enables keeping the playing surface free from loose dirt or sand.
