Bates College presents Chinese-style comedian Jesse Appell, a former Fulbright Scholar who performs humor in the Xiangsheng style, as well as bilingual improv and Chinese stand-up. He seeks to overcome cultural gaps by focusing on storytelling and character rather than surface differences and stereotypes. The show is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Benjamin Mays Center, 95 Russell St. Admission is free. FMI: nfaries@bates.edu.
