People should be warned — many doctors do not take people on MaineCare, since the bills owned them are not being paid as they should. Gov. Paul LePage keeps saying there is no money available to expand the program.

Bills are paid as money comes in. Doctors need to pay salaries, etc.

I am on MaineCare and got the care I needed, for dentist, eye doctor, knee surgery, only by paying out-of-pocket, so much a month. Same for pre-paying for my funeral.

One must make sacrifices, go without lots of “things” that are not necessary for survival. Health care is more important to me than 100 cable TV channels or the latest smart phone, etc.

Now, many doctors’ practices and dentists want up-front payment before accepting patient care.

Be warned.
