WATERFORD — The Waterford Fall Foliage 5K road race and fun run  will be held on Sunday, October 7 in Waterford Flats, with an out and back run/walk to South Waterford. The one mile fun run for kids 12 and under starts at 11:30 a.m. and the 5K starts noon. Both start at the common in the village, on route 35/37.

The 5K race and 5K fitness walk registration fee is $20 pre-registered and $25 on the race day. There are free t-shirts for the first 100 5K entries received by  September 15.  The one mile fun run is free for those 12 and under.

This is a rain or shine event. There is also a chili cook-off at 12:30 on the common, run by the Waterford/Harrison P.T.O. Free samples for all runners and there is a nominal fee for spectators. Hot dogs and baked goods are on sale as well.

The race is a fund raiser for annual scholarships for Waterford graduates. It is held in memory of Tony Waldeier, a Waterford teacher, who died in 2001. Over $60,000 had been awarded to students graduating from Oxford Hills in the past 18 years. We encourage all those scholarship winners and their parents to come to the race and either run or volunteer to help with the race.
