AUBURN — Kentucky M. Spooner, 76, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, at the Androscoggin Hospice House following a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Skowhegan on March 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Norman and Ruby Spooner. In 1963, he married Sharon M. Adams and together they moved to the L/A area and raised two sons. He began his working career hand sewing for Belgrade shoe, and later became a shipper/receiver until his early retirement due to illness.

His lifelong passions were spending countless weekends with his family at the family camp on Pushaw Pond, and hunting and fishing trips to Bulldog Pond. He was an avid sports fan, dedicated to the Red Sox and the Patriots and countless hours of golf tournaments. During his retirement years, he played Scrabble, cribbage, word games and computer games; watched Western reruns and, of course, spent much time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and his two sons Richard N. Spooner (Denise) and Darin S. Spooner and fiancée, Heidi L. Kimmick. He also leaves his grandsons Joshua and Ryan Spooner and Cameron Kimmick. His surviving siblings and their spouses include Carolyn Lagasse, Charlotte Luce (Raymond), Tina Perkins and his sister-in-law, Orrinetta Spooner. He will be missed by all his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws Patricia and Richard Adams; two brothers-in-law: Armand Lagasse and Bruce Perkins; and more recently his brother, Texton Spooner.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Kindred At Home and Androscoggin Hospice House for their loving support and care of Kentucky during this time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Kentucky’s name to the Hospice House or the American Diabetes Association. Please visit www.thefortingroupauburn.com to share condolences.
