NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group sponsors the Main Street Gallery, a co-operative gallery comprised of local member artists. The works of the co-op members are displayed year-round, and from April through November special focus is given to the work of a different member.

Featured at the gallery in October is the artwork of Artist of the Month Anthony Morra. Join us for a free reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, to celebrate Morra’s work.

Morra began painting after his mother, artist Pam Morra, convinced him to give it a try. He started painting by taking weekly oil painting workshops with Auburn artist Michael Ranucci. Morra holds a deep interest in the classic style of traditional oil paintings.

Morra was scheduled to be featured artist for November but offered to switch after the originally scheduled October artist, Barbara Traficonte, had to withdraw. This month’s opening reception is also on the first Friday of the month rather than the second due to those schedule changes.

The gallery is open from 11 to 5 p.m Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
