Who does Bruce Poliquin work for? When I received his recent mailing, touting his 2018 Guardian of Seniors Award, I thought, “Great, Mr. Poliquin is working for me” — until I looked into the nature of the sponsoring organization, the Sixty Plus Association. The Sixty Plus Association is all about privatizing Social Security and shrinking other supports for the elderly.

The bigger picture is that Poliquin’s donor sources are mostly large donations from the financial services industry, which is why they can call his tune — tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. To pay for those tax cuts, he votes to squeeze what he can out of the social supports that so many in his district rely upon.

Mainers need someone who can work for the rest of the people, not just carry water for the wealthy. Which is why I am supporting Jared Golden.
